Tell Them Matt Ratcliffe Said, "Please check on my interest rate, can it be locked in and at what cost?"
Now that Interest rates are on the way up, if you are purchasing a home, please ask your lender to look at locking your interest rate. Most of the time they can do this and it will not cost you anything. On average an interest rate lock is for 30 to 60 days. If you are building a New Home then you must ask your builder for a time line so you know when you can lock. Some lenders will let you pay money upfront to lock in a rate on new construction for more then 60 days. New Construction interest rate can be locked for 120 to 180 days. Please consult with your lender on the actual cost of locking in your interest rate. Matt believes rates are headed higher, and if that is the case, you need to be safe and not sorry. If you know of someone who is going through a real estate transaction now, please let them know this information. If you need to buy or sell, then call Matt Ratcliffe Today!
